This scene was inspired by a story I wrote. It's about a mad scientist in the early 1800s, who manages to miraculously trap lighting inside a bottle.
This scene portrays a derelict workroom, there are research papers and notes strewn across a worn workbench. Scribbled writings lit by a single wavering candle, as well as a ominous blue glow emanating from something unnatural. The workroom has been left abandoned for many years, but the scientist has recently returned to continue his research.
I made this scene in my free time almost entirely using Blender, only using Krita for some compositing overlays and mapping custom textures to UVs. The rest is all done in Blender; Modeling, Texturing, Animating, Lighting, Rendering, Compositing and even Editing. All done inside blender, I blame the lack of software variety on my lack of personal licenses to other programs like photoshop, After Effects and Substance. This was a fun project to challenge myself and what I've learned in my 6 years of using blender.
My professional work has kept me pretty busy these last few years, but I have been working on a handful of personal projects lately and I'm excited to share them once they are ready.
